Unexpected Combinations

Grade Level: 10th - 12th grade

Length: 3 weeks

Description:

Artists often create meaningful work by forming connections between seemingly unrelated ideas, objects, or concepts. In this unit, students will explore how relationships between objects–such as natural vs human-made, past vs. present, or even organic vs. technological–can communicate deeper meaning. Students will use acrylic painting to visually interpret two selected prompts, challenging them to think critically and creatively about how these objects relate. Through experimentation, research, and painting, students will develop visual narratives that reflect both conceptual thinking and personal perspective.
